For those of you who might not be aware of what puddling is in drapery land, let us first start by telling you that puddling is the epitome of luxury. You can think of it this way- when you’re going to a black tie event what would you wear? Most likely, you’d wear a floor length dress that has a little train or if you’re a man you’d wear a tux. Puddling is exactly that- a black tie event. It has the ability to make a fabric look romantic and luxurious all at the same time. Men, don’t feel discouraged because you might think this is a too lady like for you. We get many male clients who are reluctant to the puddle but once we design it for them, they thank us afterwords. In fact, we just finished a very large house and for his drapery work we did puddle the fabric. He said no at first and his wife said yes. Uh oh is right! When couples don’t agree, let’s be frank here, the woman always wins. Thank you wife! She won, we won and he ended up loving how we designed all the drapery work. That’s what we like to call a win-puddle situation. Bottom line, don’t be afraid of this look. It’s absolutely gorgeous in the right room.
