Sheer Shades

Every window in the rooms has different needs and wants. I always take so many things into consideration when designing window treatments, ie, do you need privacy during the day when the shades are down but you still want to see out? Do you need a blackout for sleeping and exactly what does that entail? I love to use a Silhouette shade for those contemporary homes where the client wants to see out during the day, privacy or room darkening at night.
What are sheer shades good for?
Sheer shades filter and soften daylight while keeping some view through the fabric, making them a good middle ground between bare windows and full blackout coverage - common in living rooms and dining areas.
Do sheer shades offer privacy?
Sheer shades offer partial privacy during the day by softening the view in, but they are not opaque - for full nighttime privacy, Jacoby Company often pairs them with a blackout liner or a second layer.
Can sheer shades be motorized?
Yes. Jacoby Company fits sheer shades to motorized systems for large or hard-to-reach windows, alongside standard manual operation.
How do sheer shades compare to roller shades?
Sheer shades keep a soft, diffused look and some outward visibility even when closed, while roller shades roll away completely or block light fully depending on the fabric chosen - the right choice depends on how much daytime view and light you want to keep.
Are sheer shades good for rooms with strong sun exposure?
Sheer shades reduce glare and UV exposure while still allowing daylight through, which suits rooms with strong, direct sun where full blackout isn't wanted during the day.
