Roman Shades

I adore Flat Roman Shades, particularly ones where we can use a print fabric. I always imagine and try to implement a sense of fun and playfulness when I am using a pattern for the Roman Shades. Now, when I design a Flat Roman Shade, I do try to add banding or another texture to attract the eyes, but sometimes, just a Flat Roman Shade is enough. We can motorize these romans so you don’t have to lower and raise them every day. Now, that is a blessing.

Are motorized shades worth it?

Motorized shades are worth considering for large windows, high or hard-to-reach shades, and rooms controlled on a daily schedule (like blocking morning sun), where manual operation is inconvenient or impractical. For smaller, easily reached windows, manual shades cost less and need no batteries or wiring.

What is the difference between Roman shades and roller shades?

Roman shades fold into soft horizontal pleats as they rise and offer a more tailored, fabric-forward look, while roller shades roll into a slim tube at the top for a cleaner, more minimal profile. Jacoby Company carries both, along with sheer, honeycomb and grass shades, so the choice comes down to the room's style and light needs.

Can shades be made cordless for child safety?

Yes. Jacoby Company offers cordless and cord-free operation across its shade lines, which removes the strangulation hazard that corded shades pose to young children and pets.

Do custom shades help with energy efficiency?

Cellular (honeycomb) shades in particular trap air in their pocketed structure, which adds insulation at the window and can reduce heat gain in summer and heat loss in winter compared to a bare window.

How much light control do sheer shades offer versus blackout shades?

Sheer shades filter and soften daylight while keeping some view through the fabric, whereas blackout shades block light almost entirely - a common choice for bedrooms and media rooms. Jacoby Company can show fabric samples of both during a consultation so you can compare light levels in your own room.
